Is AA For You?
Many people wonder whether A.A. might be able to help them. The fellowship offers a simple set of questions that can help you decide for yourself. There is no judgment, no pressure, and no requirement — just honest reflection.
The Twelve Questions
These questions have helped many people take an honest look at their drinking. You don’t need to score yourself or compare your answers to anyone else. Just answer as truthfully as you can.
- Do you drink more than you intend to?
- Do you drink to change how you feel?
- Do you regret things you’ve said or done while drinking?
- Do you ever try to stop drinking and find you can’t?
- Do you drink alone or in secret?
- Has drinking caused problems at home, work, or school?
- Do you drink even when you know it could cause harm?
- Do you ever forget what happened while you were drinking?
- Do you drink to escape worry, stress, or fear?
- Has drinking affected your relationships?
- Do you ever feel guilty about your drinking?
- Do you wonder if you might have a problem?
Most people who answer “yes” to several of these questions find that A.A. can help.
